Ice Cream Social

Well I'm finally finished the Ice Cream Social. I love the finished dress now but I found some of the pattern instructions quite strange and at one stage vowed I would never make another but I will probably just do some of the things they way that makes sense to me.

I'm not sure if these colours actually suit Lucy, they seem a bit pale for her skin tone but she was happy with it.

I did View A with the double hem and I did the underside hem in the same fabric as the bodice and the outside hem in the yoke fabric.

A big thanks to Amy without her I am sure this dress would be sitting in the UFO pile.

Very cute, I think the colours suit Lucy, the blue is a pretty shade. Might make a cute top too with leggings underneath. Good job! xx

it looks fantastic! I really need to do some more sewing. I haven't been able to get back into it since we got back from Canberra. My mind is too full of wedding thoughts!

Oh lovely! Well done.
I agree about doing things your own way. Sometimes that is the only way to go about it.

It looks great Cass, and it's handmade by you - what's not to love.

Good on you for sticking with it and finishing it!

The end result was great. Was it the bodice you were having trouble with? I know it isn't the look or the correct practice, but instead of enclosing the yoke, I just sewed them wrong sides together and then edge stitched it. You can see the seam on the inside - not a big deal - and sooo much easier to make
