Birthdays

Charlotte has a couple of birthday parties to go to this weekend and I picked up a couple of copies of Kids Crafternoon - Papercraft this week as gifts, much to Charlotte's disgust, she's already put it on her Christmas wish list.

Then I decided to make a couple of these Art Journals to go with them.

We added some gel pens, stickers, some blank cards and tags

Powerhouse Discovery Centre

If you live in the Hills area of Sydney you may know about the Powerhouse Discovery Centre @ Castle Hill.

I received an email from them today letting me know about an upcoming event. Their August open day on Saturday 13th August is focussing on handmade and in fact is called Handmade Revolution.

They have lots of activities on for young and old so if you live in the area, or can get there pop in and have a look, you might bump in to the kids and I.

To top it off the great people at the Discovery Centre have given me 2 family passes to give away right here which coincides very nicely with my 5th anniversary. So if you are local, free on the 13th and would like to come along for a fun day then leave me a comment.

(Forgot to say I'll draw the winners on Sunday night so I've got time to get addresses and send the passes out)

New Shoes

Look what arrived in the mail yesterday

After seeing Cintia wearing these in Japan I knew I needed a pair.

They are from CMUK and there are loads of colours and it was hard to decide which ones to get. I wore them today and they were great, very comfy. I wore them with socks today but I prefer wearing shoes without socks so I will be giving that a try next time. Can't wait to try them out at zumba too. Now, of course, the kids want a pair so we are al waiting for them to release their kids version.

P.S. - I bought these shoes and this is an unsolicited post. I'll come back and let you know how they go the more I wear them.

Baking

I know it looks like this blog is becoming a cooking one but hopefully I will have some sewing soon.

I made this cake on Friday afternoon and this is what is left now. I think the recipe is from here but I can't remember because I had it written down from somewhere.

Then today I did these cinnamon chips. The first batch were a bit well done because I got sidetracked but they are very yummy and I can't wait to make this or this

And finally some scrolls. I used Mel's recipe (just scroll down a bit) and made half cinnamon and half ham and cheese.

Raspberries

I love raspberries and if you follow me on Pinterest you will know I often pin foods involving raspberries. I pinned this ages ago and decided to whip it up this week.

I did make a couple of changes to the recipe.
- I didn't use a food processor so I just rubbed the butter through with my fingers.
- My tin was a bit smaller so my layers are thicker but it still tastes great and I love the biscuit base being a bit thicker.
- I didn't use a full tablespoon of lemon rind I just used the rind of 1 lemon. A tablespoon seemed like a lot and I only had one. It gave it a nice lemony flavor without being overpowering.

It's been great to grab in the mornings and eat on the way to work this week.

Lark Lovelieness

I got some lovely goodies at the Lark sale and they arrived on Monday.

This gorgeous Dumpling Dynasty Cookie wallet. I started using it straight away and I love it.

2 Anorak magazines for Charlotte

And this gorgeous weekend bag, also from Dumpling Dynasty. I got 3 of these and wish I had gotten more as they would make great gifts for Charlotte's friends.

Petite Lasagna

I've been pinning lots of stuff on pinterest including these

Thumbs up from one child, absolutely disgusting from the other. There's no pleasing child number two.

(I used chicken mince instead of turkey too).

Chocolate party

We usually let the kids have a "big" party every couple of years and Charlotte was supposed to have one in January for her birthday but then Jeff broke his heel and I just couldn't cope with a kids birthday party as well.

So I said she could have a party some time during the year and she decided she wanted to have a chocolate party and today was the day.

I made some cake pops for them to decorate although they were a bit too moist this time, some cup cakes for them to decorate and then they got down and chocolatey with choc dipped strawberries and pizza for dinner.

Can yo believe I didn't get one photo of Charlotte. Now we are all set for the holidays.
