Vintage Illustrations - Day 7

This has been a great week of posting (and I can't believe I managed to do everyday) and a big thanks to Pip for starting this. As I mentioned in an earlier post this made me realise how many great vintage children's books I have so I will be posting about them every Thursday.
I have decided to finish the week with one of my favourite childhood books Zozo Goes to Hospital by Margaret and H.A. Rey published in 1967. Some of you may recognise Zozo as Curious George. I am not sure of the background of this but the Rey's published some of the George books as Zozo. I am always on the lookout for more Zozo's but haven't found any yet not even on Ebay.

Oh, I had no idea that Curious George had a twin :D. That's so very cool - are the stories the same too? If I ever see a Zozo book I'll pass it on to you. Cheers, Bec.

Thanks Bec. The stories are the same, although I don't think there are as many featuring Zozo. I think it was originally Zozo and then possibly changed to George for the US market.

Cass looking at your day 6 illustrations makes me recall a book that must also be illustrated by Eloise - it's about going to kindergarten and I loved it as a child - shame it belonged to my sister so now she has it!

so cool. i've always know that overseas editions of characters have alternate names, but I've never seen it in action. Thanks for the post!
