Skirt for me

Finished a skirt for me. I am reasonably happy with it although I can't believe how huge I am. Try to disregard that when looking at the skirt. It is just a band at the top and I have sewn the rest of the fabric to it. I desperately needed something with the increase in temp. in Sydney this week. Ignore the unmade bed and mess in the background.

Skirt & Tshirt

Here is the skirt and tshirt I did for Charlotte. The skirt only has 2 tiers and the fabric is probably a bit stiff as it doesn't fall that well.

Zip

OK I've done my zip. Took a few tries to get it right. First time I put it in upside down. For a first attempt I am pretty happy with it. Not sure how many things I will sew with a zip though.

I've been tagged

Ok I've been tagged - thanks http://lottielulu.blogspot.com/Ingrid

These are the rules of the tag are: List 5 weird things about yourself or your pets. Tag 5 friends and list them. Then, those people need to write on their blogs about 5 weird things, and state the rules, and tag 5 more people. Dont forget to let the people you tag know by posting a comment on their blog! Ok I am tagging http://pinkgirlssewing.blogspot.com/ Andrea; http://www.green-polka-dots.blogspot.com/ Belinda; http://www.quirkythreads.blogspot.com/ Marie; http://whatadrama.blogspot.com/ Paula; http://mizzmolly.blogspot.com/ Molly

5 weird things about me:

1. I hate driving up or down really steep hills - I once stopped DP driving to a animal park in Nowra because the hill looked too steep.

2. I love renovation and cooking shows especially on The Lifestyle Channel. In fact I just love the Lifestyle Channel.

3. I'm very curious, although DP would call it "having to know everything".

4. I talk to myself alot especially when pushing the pram as it looked like I was talking to Charlotte.

5. I'm scared of squirels after being chased by one in Niagara Falls National Park.

PS - sorry about the links I couldn't get them to work properly.

Dress

I made this dress with the material from the op shop. Doesn't look that good with her other outfit underneath and I'm not sure I am happy with how it turned out as I didn't use a pattern just another dress for comparison.

Shorts

I actually love these. Adapted from the Easy Pants pattern using the material I got at the op shop the other day. I decided to put a chenille pocket on them as well. Charlotte decided to "model" these but excuse her tshirt as she has had a day at home with her "gar" (grandma) and did lots of craft.

Fabric

New stuff:

The fabric squares to the left are the chenille I got from Ebay. Have some ideas.

Below is some SL fabric and a pattern. The green with flowers is for something for Charlotte and the pink is for an attempt at a bag.

The ones here to the left are what I picked up at the op shop. I think they are all old tablecloths. I might use some for pot holders, maybe a skirt, not really sure just excited I found something. I also found some old kids books I can cut up as pages are rippedand drawn on for cards (Ingrid's idea)

Dragon & Pants

Here are the pants I made last night. Definitely too short in the crotch but luckily Charlotte likes wearing them low so I think they will be ok.

Also a few pictures of the dragon I made.

Twirly skirt

Here is the new twirly skirt I made for Charlotte to wear to pre-school photos on Monday. I appliqued the t-shirt and luckily you can't see how bad it is in the photos. Luckily I have a red tshirt she can wear although from a distance it doesn't look too bad. Just realised you can't see the tshirt. Here is another photo.

Pants

Another pair of Ingrid's Easy Pants. I love this material it looks like a seersucker although I am sure they don'tcall it that anymore. The vertical stripes make Charlotte look taller and she needs all the help she can get.

Material

Just realised this is not a great photo. Anyway here is what I am doing with this material.
Stripes - I am thinking some more "Easy Pants" for Charlotte.
Flowers/Red - Twirly skirt
Black velvet on the bottom is for our capes for the Harry Potter party.
Underneath the red is some black stretch material that I am going totry and make some maternity pants for myself with. if they don't work I guess I will be using this for softies.
The grey felt and grey underneath that is for softies. I have afew things in mind and need to try some stuff out.

Top

Well I was trying out this idea for a top. Actually a photo I saw from someone else on EB (I think). Just used this material totest it and I was quite happy with it, although the material was prety crappy to sew. I just need to make it a little bigger across the chest when I make the real one.

Cat

Well here's the unlucky cat - pretty sure it has used up about 6 of it's 9 lives. Lucky this picture doesn't show the bad sewing on the legs, tail ears etc.

Owl

I made this owl to send an RSVP to a Harry Potter party. I was quite happy with it and the pocket on the back is to hold the RSVP.

Here are the photos of the pants and skirt with Charlotte actually wearing them.

New Sewing

Here is the skirt i have just made for Charlotte. It is my first attempt at sometihng a bit harder than straight lines and I think it worked out quite well. As she has been sick there are no photos of herewearing it as it was too much of a hassle to get her just to try it on for measurements.

Who Said No Sewing

Easy Pants

Well I made Ingrid's Easy Pants bu turnedthem into a bit hard pants. I cut the pattern out wrong and so they were huge and I had to make adjustments to the width and the top but then to make the crutch in the right spot I had to turn them into 3/4 pants. They actually look ok though for my first attempt at clothing and Charlotte is pretty happy with her "groovy" pants and can't wait for me to make her another pair.

The sewing bug has hit

Well I finally found some time to get the new machine set up. So I started sewing and now I can't stop. So far I have made a runner for our new table. Tne I made 2 cushions for the new lounge. We have just had renovations so we have some new furniture. Now I can't waitto get the pattern from Ingrid and I also need to get back to Spotlight and get some more of the sme fabric to make a cover for a chair.
