I must admit this is not mine. I foolishly got rid of my Chrissy doll (named Audra, after the character on The Big Valley) when I outgrew her. I did manage to get one on Ebay a number of years ago but don't have a good photo of her. She came in the original dress but without the shoes.I loved this doll, her hair could grow longer by pushing a button on her stomach and to make it shorter again you turned a dial on her back - childhood bliss.

Ooh I would have loved one of those when I was younger. I did have one whose scalp spun around so she could have either black or white hair.
Isn't it a shame that we don't have the foresight to hang on to these things after we've outgrown them?
How fun! She's groovy.
Oh my goodness I would have loved one of those!! How lucky you found one the same :)
Oh my goodness - I have one of those that was my Aunty's! I had completely forgotten about her - she's up in my cupboard at my parents place i think!
what a wonderful feature - speedy hair growth!! I'm sure this doll would have been an endless source of fun and hairstylin' :)
OMG! I have a Chrissy doll! She is in great condition. I still have her original dress and shoes although mines dress is different than the one your picture has. Mines hair is not quiet so long. I don't think it was ever that long as I have a picture of myself holding her when I first got her. I did trim it just a little when I was younger to get the frizzy ends off that occurred every once in a while. She was actually the last doll I ever got for Christmas when I was 11 almost 12 years old. I was getting too old for dolls but I loved them! Mine is in my cedar chest with lots of other special things.
I had a Chrissy doll as a girl, but I'm sure she ended up being donated to an op shop. But just last year I found one in the toy section at my local op shop, a bit worse for wear, but at least she was a Crissy!
I so wish I could just trim my hair by twisting a dial on my back. Though, it's hard to reach. Someone else would have to do it for me. What a great memory. It's funny what we remember. My sister remembers different things to me and our parents say they recall none of our memories.
I had a Crissy doll too. And my sister had a blond version with a purple velvet dress...I think Valerie was the dolls name.
