Shorts for present

These are the shorts I made for Charlotte's little friend who is having a birthday on Sunday. I'm sure he won't be excited but we will get him something toy-related to go with them. I put a pocket on the back although I am not 100% happy with it.

Ingrid - you may recognise this fabric.

A Quick Sewing Afternoon

Well these 2 things took me about 1 hour all up to sew so I am very happy. I did cut them out last night while watching Cold Case. The first one is a bib using a fat quarter I got from Ebay and the bag is using another fat quarter from Ebay. Charlotte doesn't actually seem very impressed with the bag so I may try and sell it. Mind you I just told her I might sell it and now she likes it - kids!

A Great Night's Sewing

Well I haven't sewn for a few days and it was great to be doing some sewing again. I found out today that my hairdresser had a baby girl recently so I thought I would make her something. I made a softie and a bag to deliver it in.

I also decided to make a bag up in the fabric I got from Ebay a while ago (following your suggestion Natalie). This is the result. I loosely used a pattern although made a few "modifications". Next time I would make the strap a bit longer but as I don't have a bag to use when just nipping to the shops it will come in handy.

Softies

As my softies have arrived at their destination I thought I would post some pics of them. The one at the bottom is a pot holder, in case you are wondering.

A mixed night

Well I've had a mixed sewing night tonight. I decided to make some Easy Pants for a friends little girl who just turned 1. Fingers crossed they fit as I just adjusted the easy pants pattern and used some standard measurements. I then decided to shir (sp) that green top I made Charlotte (bad pics). Worked out fantastically although she hasn't tried it on yet. Seeing that went so well I thought I would whip up a similar top to go with the pants - well disaster stikes with the shirring, it doesn't gather so the top has now been abandoned but I used the exact same settings so I am not sure what went wrong.

I got this material from Ebay today. Not sure what I am going to do with it yet.

Pants & Top

Here is the finished set of the pants and terry towelling top. I think the top is a little wide but it is wearable.

3 Posts in One Day - My Record

Well sorry to bombard you with posts but here is the top I redid for Charlotte tonight. Fingers crossed it will fit. I hate terry towelling by the way.

The other thing I have been working on is this noughts and crosses board. There are a number of kinks to iron out (eg. the ric rac would go right across) and ideally the noughts and crosses and the board would have velcro to hold them on. I am interested in any feedback from people about whether you think this would sell. I am looking at making them in boys and girls colours.

Charlotte the photographer

Even though most of you have seen Jeff and I, I thought I would post this pic that Charlotte took today. Mind you there were a lot of the furniture very close up.

Pants

Here are the 3/4 pants I made Charlotte from the very popular material. I also made a terry towelling top to go with it but misjudged the measurements so need to re-do it. I will add pics when I get this done

It's a boy thing & a girl thing

It's been a while since I posted but hopefully quite a bit of sewing should be done now. This is a little pack I did up for a friend who has just had a baby. It comprises a softie, appliqued tshirt and singlet all packed in a drawstring bag.

I have also attempted a bag for myself (although I think Charlotte might claim it, if she sees it). Not 100% happy with it but fo my first attempt its ok. I just drew up the pattern myself. I had bought some wooden ring handles but they were too big as I probably cut it a bit small. I lined it and used a strong fusible interfacing between (not sure if that was right or not). Just need to put a clasp on it of some description.

I also wanted to say thanks to all my EB sewing pals, you have really inspired me with my sewing so a BIG THANK YOU to everyone.

I've been tagged

Ok I've been tagged by Helen. I'm going to tag Angel http://lolliegirl.blogspot.com/ and Kylie http://craftedbykylie.blogspot.com/.

1. What is your current pet peeve?
Not having enough time to sew
2. Would you rather be bored or annoyed?
DP would say I am more often annoyed and too busy to be bored
3. When did you last drink champagne?
Don't really like champagne and can't drink at the moment anyway
4. Who sleeps in your bed? Me and DP! Charlotte when she wakes up although not too much sleeping then.
5. What TV hunk can come knock at your door?
Given up tv for sewing but Phil Kearns (ex-Wallaby) could knock anyday and so could Pat Rafter.
6. Do you wear perfume?
Not very often only when I go out and then it is Miracle
7.If you wrote a book what type would it be?
Probably a crime book
8. When did you last go to the dentist? Too long ago
9.Ooops, you've just had boy/girl twins- what are they called? Can't tell as we don't want to give the names away we have picked for this baby (no not twins), although having a lot of trouble with a boys name.
10.How do you get your news- TV/Internet/paper?
Mainly paper and tv
11.Do you believe the story that Naomi Robson was going to save a boy from cannibals?
Don't really care, can't stand either Today Tonight or A Current Affair
12. If you could go back in history where do you want to visit?
Probably the 60'2 although I'd rather go forward and get the Lotto results
13.I am having a fancy dress party. What are you dressed as?
Depends on the theme but if it was today I'd come in a kaftan as Mamma Cass (from the Mammas and the Pappas) because I can't fit into anything else.

Football

Hi, not really a sewing related post but this is for Helen. Cheer Cheer the Red and the White!!! Just got home from the game and what a game it was. Even though it ended up a good win it was a tight, opne game and Freo played well. I took a pic of your boys running onto the field and the other one is of Jeff and I at half time.

PJ's

Last night I thought I would make Charlotte some pj's as the weather was hotting up a bit. The top proved a bit too difficult so I made the shorts and then got a tshirt today and appliqued it with z z z z. I probably wouldn't do the 2 smaller z's again as they were a bit fiddly sewing around.

Skirt for me

Finished a skirt for me. I am reasonably happy with it although I can't believe how huge I am. Try to disregard that when looking at the skirt. It is just a band at the top and I have sewn the rest of the fabric to it. I desperately needed something with the increase in temp. in Sydney this week. Ignore the unmade bed and mess in the background.

Skirt & Tshirt

Here is the skirt and tshirt I did for Charlotte. The skirt only has 2 tiers and the fabric is probably a bit stiff as it doesn't fall that well.

Zip

OK I've done my zip. Took a few tries to get it right. First time I put it in upside down. For a first attempt I am pretty happy with it. Not sure how many things I will sew with a zip though.

I've been tagged

Ok I've been tagged - thanks http://lottielulu.blogspot.com/Ingrid

These are the rules of the tag are: List 5 weird things about yourself or your pets. Tag 5 friends and list them. Then, those people need to write on their blogs about 5 weird things, and state the rules, and tag 5 more people. Dont forget to let the people you tag know by posting a comment on their blog! Ok I am tagging http://pinkgirlssewing.blogspot.com/ Andrea; http://www.green-polka-dots.blogspot.com/ Belinda; http://www.quirkythreads.blogspot.com/ Marie; http://whatadrama.blogspot.com/ Paula; http://mizzmolly.blogspot.com/ Molly

5 weird things about me:

1. I hate driving up or down really steep hills - I once stopped DP driving to a animal park in Nowra because the hill looked too steep.

2. I love renovation and cooking shows especially on The Lifestyle Channel. In fact I just love the Lifestyle Channel.

3. I'm very curious, although DP would call it "having to know everything".

4. I talk to myself alot especially when pushing the pram as it looked like I was talking to Charlotte.

5. I'm scared of squirels after being chased by one in Niagara Falls National Park.

PS - sorry about the links I couldn't get them to work properly.

What to do?

Now I've got a problem. Sewing or EB - what to do

Dress

I made this dress with the material from the op shop. Doesn't look that good with her other outfit underneath and I'm not sure I am happy with how it turned out as I didn't use a pattern just another dress for comparison.

Shorts

I actually love these. Adapted from the Easy Pants pattern using the material I got at the op shop the other day. I decided to put a chenille pocket on them as well. Charlotte decided to "model" these but excuse her tshirt as she has had a day at home with her "gar" (grandma) and did lots of craft.

Fabric

New stuff:

The fabric squares to the left are the chenille I got from Ebay. Have some ideas.

Below is some SL fabric and a pattern. The green with flowers is for something for Charlotte and the pink is for an attempt at a bag.

The ones here to the left are what I picked up at the op shop. I think they are all old tablecloths. I might use some for pot holders, maybe a skirt, not really sure just excited I found something. I also found some old kids books I can cut up as pages are rippedand drawn on for cards (Ingrid's idea)

Dragon & Pants

Here are the pants I made last night. Definitely too short in the crotch but luckily Charlotte likes wearing them low so I think they will be ok.

Also a few pictures of the dragon I made.
